It really doesn’t matter the age of a child…..you give them a few balls or riding toys or a net and a gym and the kids will figure out something to play! This party was in a neighborhood gym and these parties really end up being the easiest parties that still let you put your own mark on.

Many times when I’m planning a party, I think of all the cool places that are out there that we could have a party at…..you know the places. But when it comes to being able to individualize the party, it’s really tough. Now, I’m sure that’s my own hangup and not one that my children share but it really does make a difference to personalize a party.

When you want to personalize a party it doesn’t mean that you have to plan and schedule every second of the party. Have the party at a location that lends it’self to free play. You can eat up 30 min to an hour with the kids just getting their wiggles out.

Don’t be afraid of the down time and let them make their own fun with free play.

Fire Truck Party Lego Favor

If you are like me, I get tired of the small balls and little favors you can pick up to throw in a bag. They end up all over the house or end up in a smaller child’s mouth and just makes me nervous.

Now, this suggestion is not for the small children. As you can see on the box, this kit is suggested for kids between 5 and 12 and I think that that is pretty accurate. The Lego kits that are small like this are quite inexpensive especially considering you spend that much or more on the junk.

If you are giving this as a gift for a fire truck party for younger boys like 5 or 6, it’s a great parent/child activity once your guests get home. Simply purchase the kit and either wrap it or put it in a gift bag and it couldn’t be easier.

Fire Truck Party on a Budget

On a budget? No problem. A fire truck party can easily be done on a budget.

This party had fireman hats that can be bought very reasonably. There is a stand up cardboard truck, napkins, cups and a table cloth all bought as part of a kit. Many of the big bog party supply stores will have them.

The kids are all about the colors and the fire trucks. This may not take too much time to create but kids this age will never know the difference.

Fire Truck Water Sprinkler Party

There is nothing more fun for kids than to run through spraying water on a warm/hot day. This fire truck sprayer makes the theme of this party perfect.

Two big points on water parties like this. They are great for kids you may not be swimming by themselves yet. Parents don’t have to be on top of the kids at all times like when they are in a pool and can’t swim.

The second thing to remember about water parties is to make sure your invitees know what is about to happen and have them bring a bathing suit or an extra change of clothes.

Fire Truck Scene Cake

If you want to go for more of a scene for your fire truck birthday party cake, this is certainly cute. You can purchase these at many stand alone bakeries and grocery store bakeries. Some of them crank out these types of birthday cakes. But it never hurts to go in with an idea of what you want.

The first thing this birthday boy did was to take off the truck and all the fireman figures and started to play with them.

Fire Truck Party Game

At the Fire Station you never know if the fun is for the big kids or for the little kids. Here the “kids” were shooting the water at an orange cone. Each kid had a turn until they knocked over the cone with the water. The big kids from the fire station had just as much fun as the little ones!

Fire Truck Birthday Party Idea

Fire Station Party

The biggest fire truck birthday party idea I can give you is to actually visit a fire department. Because of budget cuts in our city, the individual fire houses don’t allow parties in their community rooms. So, we had our “party” at a different location. After letting out a bit of kid energy, we loaded everyone up and went for a tour at a local firehouse.

Here the fire station captain on duty extended the ladder truck and climbed to the top to waive at the kids. These always work best if you can find a fire house with younger firemen with kids of their own. They understand what the little kids love. As we were driving to the fire station, my daughter asked if there are any women fireman(firewomen). I said that there absolutely were but she had never seen any. It was a wonderful surprise for us to show up and the captain on duty the day we were there was a woman!

Most of the time there is no fee for this type of tour, so it is very nice to go back with a plate of cookies, brownies or something showing your appreciation. A small donation if you can afford one, would also be appropriate. The idea of visiting the fire department as a group to see the fire trucks is also a great idea for auction party items.

Fire Truck Party Favors

The thing to always remember is not every thing at the party HAS to be completely part of the theme. These fire truck party favors were given at a party in the summer time. We decided to give sand buckets and toys. We related it to the theme by adding a preprinted fire truck tag that had each child’s name on it.

Fire Truck Theme Party Table

The venue where we had this party had high ceilings. Something needed to happen to make the party tables not only go with the theme of fire trucks but to draw the guests in to the food and cake. Here we used the balloons again to do that. The balloons are the colors that coordinate and the provide a false ceiling for the tables.

Each fire truck table was preset with a fire plug juice cup and a dalmation hat at each space. The table cloth is disposable and isn’t really fire truck theme but is totally works with the colors.

Fire Truck Party Balloons

What’s a birthday party without balloons??? This is another oops that happened at this party as you’ll learn below.

The colors we used for this party were black, red and white all with weights on the bottom so that the kids could carry them around and not worry about the balloons fly away. We rented a small tank rather than paying the balloon store to blow them up as it was much less expensive.

Our main focus balloon was a truck balloon made of the silvery material that we blew up and put a weight on but obviously not a heavy enough one. As soon as my son let it go, it flew up to the top of the party room never to be seen by guests! We were also going to use the fire truck balloon as the focal point on the serving table. Something you can do!!!
